Attitudes Are Contagious, Are Yours Worth Catching
Do you cheer your kids on, or do you jeer at the Referee? Are you praising your child's progress or are you confusing your child by coaching from the side line? Find out what kids think about how parents behave on the sidelines, view the video from the Massachusetts Youth Soccer Association on the attached link http://www.mayouthsoccer.org/pages/488_attitudes_are_contagious.cfm

When the "Bad Guys" Win
At a PACT (Parents and Coaches Together) presentation last year, one of the parents asked a very pointed question: "Why do the bad guys always win?" It was a difficult question, one which kept PACT presenters discussing possible answers for over a year. To see waht they came up with, click the attached link When the "Bad Guys" Win

Risk Management Forms for Coaches, Managers, Referees and other Volunteers
LHSA and its parent organization, NTSSA, have required all coaches, managers, adult referees and other volunteers to fill-out the Volunteer Application form, commonly referred to as the Risk Management Form, which was used to check the background on our volunteers to protect the children from exposure to unsavory characters. We now have a better method of doing this with an ONLINE form---which makes it easier to use, avoids the existence of paper containing any confidential information which had to flow through the LHSA office, allows the clearance determination to be obtained immediately by the volunteer. LHSA will not give out Volunteer cards to anyone who has not been cleared through the new system. ALL COACHES, MANAGERS, ADULT REFEREES, AND OTHER VOLUNTEERS ARE REQIURED TO COMPLETE THIS FORM. Parents, make sure that anyone who is working with your children has successfully completed the Risk Assessment Form and has a current soccer year Volunteer Card.

Nutrition and Performance
There is an important link between nutrition and performance. Improper diet and/or hydration can seriously affect the performance of any athlete. This is more critical for young athletes who are growing and burning energy at a more rapid rate than adults. The child who tires quickly will not only have poorer performance, but have less fun playing sports. This could lead to your child's lack of interest in playing sports.

For more information on the web about your child's nutrition see the FIFA Nutrition Booklet (also included on the Players page).

New XARA Uniform Package
LHSA has partnered with XARA Soccer to provide LHSA teams with a quality, cost effective uniform package for teams only, which is ordered through Soccer City, 2141 E. Arapaho Rd., Richardson, Texas. The delivery time is 2 weeks or less from the date of order. The uniform packages and prices are set forth on the Coaches page and will be fully explained to coaches at the coaches meeting.

Coaching and Success in Youth Soccer
We have all seen the interviews with famous athletes who thank their parents for their support and hard work. Many times they also single out a coach that at some level has recognized their potential and has helped to develop that potential and a love for the game and how it should be played. These are the people that know how to measure success and nurture young players. To learn more about these ideals, check out the articles on "Building the Perfect Coach" and "Success in Youth Soccer" located on the Coaches page.
