Jan vanBeveren, the great Dutch goalkeeper for the famous "Clockwork Orange" team of the early 1970s, was the first Skills Coach for LHSA, and continued that for two years. He also coached several local competitive teams (including Andromeda, Storm, and Dallas Texans) as well as individual players in the Dallas Area. In the late 90s, Jan was the head coach for the SMU Lady Mustangs, taking them to the national playoffs. He also served as the goalkeeper coach for FC Dallas for two years in the early 2000s. Jan vanBeveren was born in March 1948 in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. He became an exceptional soccer player and at the age of 17 he was a professional goalkeeper for the Sparta soccer club in Rotterdam. In 1970, Jan played for PSV in Eindhoven and won the European Championship in the 1973/74 season. Jan played 32 games for the Dutch National Team, and from 1980-1984 played for the Fort Lauderdale Strikers of the NASL, and was the first player signed by the Dallas Sidekicks of the MISL, playing from 1845-85.
